Come learn about Jazz Diplomacy: America’s Musical Conversation with the World with James Ketterer.  Mr. Ketterer is Dean at the American University in Cairo, Egypt, as well as a passionate drummer and jazz musician. Together, we will explore the period of time when jazz was at the center of U.S. cultural diplomacy—in the 1960s at the height of the Cold War and when the Civil Rights movement was in full swing. We will look at how these two realities were reconciled and the subtle view of the turmoil this art form provided the global audience.
