Jacob Nankhonya is a photojournalist currently working as an Assistant Technical Editor at Nation Publications Ltd in Malawi since 2015. Prior to that, he joined the Times Media Group in 2006 as a photojournalist for the company's three news outlets: The Daily Times, Malawi News, and The Sunday Times; and as a cameraman and video/news editor for their Times Television. 

 

Apart from photojournalism, Jacob also writes hard news, both feature articles and entertainment. Through the years he has won different awards including:  Photojournalist of the Year (3 times, Media Institute for Southern Africa, Malawi chapter), Best Business and Economics Journalist of the Year, and Best Journalist of the Year based on investigative articles on how local tobacco farmers were being duped out of their farming returns in the name of contract farming.

Currently, in addition to taking news photos for NPL, Jacob is also responsible for coordinating photo coverage as well as potential infographics to go with stories of the day.
