A Bit About Me
Roland Schmid is a freelance photographer represented by 13Photo in Zurich, Switzerland.
He was born with a camera in his hands.
Schmid received a photographic education with Hugo Jaeggi and currently works for national and international newspapers, magazines, companies, and organizations. From 2007 to 2008, Schmid was an artist-in-residence at Association Gwin Zegal in Brittany, France.
Schmid’s work was shortlisted for the British Journal of Photography and Portrait of Humanity Awards in 2019. His work won first prize in the Photo and Video Contest of Swiss Malaria Group and was shortlisted for the Swiss Photo Award in 2017. He has also received two Swiss Press Photo Awards. In 2021, Schmid won 2nd Prize in the World Press Photo contest > General News > Stories, for his work "Cross-Border Love" about couples in love and friends meeting at the closed Swiss-German borders during the Covid pandemic.
