A Bit About Me
Dipu Malakar is a professional photojournalist born in 1992 in Bangladesh’s Old Dhaka. He is currently working as Staff Photojournalist at the leading Bangladeshi newspaper Prothom Alo.
Dipu started his photography career in 2013 at Focus Bangla News Agency, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has covered some of the most important events that took place in Bangladesh in recent times such as the Rana Plaza collapse, numerous political crises stemming from the Hefazat-e-Islami movement, national elections, horrendous Holey Artisan café attack by ISIS terrorists and influx of Rohingya refugees.
Upon graduation from Communication and Media Studies department at University Of Development Alternative-UODA in 2014, Dipu also completed a foundation in photography from Pathshala South Asian Media Institute.
His photographs were published in international media houses such as AP, AFP, BBC, CNN, Al Jazeera, Voice of America, Deutsche Welle and The Quite American Magazine and in many popular Bangladeshi newspapers.
